Uggla Packing His Bags.....

....and heading to Rochester. Late last night the Michigan Miracles decided to cut ties with 2B Dan Uggla. Uggla's three year contract, big power and low average will be headed east to the Red Sox. In return the Miracles will receive Rochesters second round pick (2.10). Moving Dan will give us a little more flexibility in the first couple of rounds, GM Chris Renner explained. We hated to lose Dan. He was a stand up guy with tremendous player but overall his low average and high strikeout numbers were something we wanted to improve upon in the offseason. With the draft looming large in front of us this move creates some options for us in the first and second round. We may not be tied down to selecting a 3B in the first round. This will also give us some contract flexibility in 2011 and beyond.

  1. It's a given you are getting Kinsler. Smart move on your part Renner.

  2. Thanks Steve, that is the initial reaction but there is a lot of time between now and the draft, lots of moves may still be made.
